AGENTS.md should include the instructions an AI coding agent needs to work safely inside your repository. Useful entries include test commands, code style rules, architecture notes, preferred libraries, security constraints, and review expectations.
The purpose is consistency. Without reusable instructions, every agent session has to infer project norms from scattered files or repeated prompts. With AGENTS.md, the agent gets a clear operating guide.
Use AGENTS.md as a practical checklist, not a long essay. Include commands the agent should run, files it should avoid, naming conventions, examples of good changes, and rules for when to ask for help. Verdent users can apply the same principle through project context, memory, rules, and Plan Mode. Clear instructions make agents more reliable.
